This Vegan Texas Toast is the best homemade garlic bread and pairs perfectly with pasta, soup, chili, or any other dinner when you want a thick, buttery, crusty piece of bread. Skip the frozen, store-bought kind (since most are not vegan-friendly anyways) and make this easy, homemade version that only requires six ingredients. Plus, it’s ready in under 20 minutes!

    Vegan Texas Toast Ingredients

    • French Bread
    • Vegan Butter
    • Garlic
    • Garlic Powder
    • Dried Parsley
    • Salt
    • Optional – Marinara for Dipping

How To Make The Best Homemade Garlic Bread

This thick-cut garlic bread is super easy to make. I like to use our electric knife to slice the loaf into even-sized rounds without squishing it, but any good serrated bread knife will work. Make sure to flip the pieces over halfway through cooking to make sure both sides are evenly browned.

    1. Start by cutting your french bread into slices, about 1″ thickness each.
    2. Combine the butter, minced garlic, garlic powder, parsley, and salt.
    3. Spread butter mixture onto both sides of bread slices.
    4. Place buttered bread on large baking tray and transfer to the oven.
    5. Bake at 375°F for about 12-14 minutes, flipping halfway through.
    6. Serve with a side of marinara sauce for dipping.

What to Serve with Texas Toast

This garlic bread makes the perfect side for almost any dinner! Enjoy this texas toast with spaghetti, lasagna, fettuccini, soup, stew, salad, or chili. You could even use these oven-baked rounds to make a sandwich or vegan burger. Top with avocado or scrambled tofu for an easy breakfast. These toasts would also be perfect for olive tapenade or as a base for bruschetta. Add some dairy-free mozzarella before baking for cheesy garlic bread. We like dipping the leftovers in marinara sauce for a quick and easy snack.

There’s really no compromise when it comes to vegan cooking.  It’s better for us, for the animals, and for our environment, so make this Texas Toast and share it with someone you love – whether they’re vegan or not!
