What’s In A Life Blood Power Beet Smoothie?

    • Beet
    • Carrot
    • Green Apple
    • Orange
    • Lemon
    • Ginger
    • Chia Seeds
    • Coconut Water

    Smoothie Variations

You can definitely add in whatever else you like here. Frozen bananas and any berry go well with beets, especially blueberries and strawberries. If you’d like it sweeter, you could always add a few dates or a splash of maple syrup. Or, instead of coconut water, you could try plant-based milk like almond or coconut. Maybe even go with dairy-free yogurt for extra creaminess. If you’re looking to add more protein, we like vanilla protein powder and I’ve even seen a few smoothie recipes that mix beets with chocolate protein powder! Maybe I’ll try that one next!

Depending on your blender, you may want to dice your beet and carrot into smaller pieces or even shred them before adding to the blender. Also, depending on your preference, you may want to add more liquid for a thinner consistency.

    Beet Superpowers

Beets are packed with essential vitamins, minerals, and plant compounds, some of which have medicinal properties. Here are just a few of beet’s impressive health benefits:

    • High in valuable vitamins and minerals
    • Significantly lowers blood pressure – beets are high in nitrates which help to relax and dilate our blood vessels
    • Improved athletic performance – by allowing our blood to flow faster and our muscles to get more oxygen
    • Helps fight inflammation – because they contain the amino acid betaine
    • Improves digestive health – one cup contains 3.5 grams of fiber, most of which is insoluble
    • Supports brain health – added oxygen flow improves cognitive functioning
    • Aids in weight loss – low in calories, high in water
    • Improves the appearance of skin – with the help of all the antioxidants that fight off damaging free radicals
    • Great for detoxification – beets help keep the liver clean and functioning
